Overview

The Imperial Hotel is connected to a fascinating part of history of the city as well as India. It was during the year 1911 when King Emperor George V had declared New Delhi as the Capital of India. The Imperial was built and run by S.B.S. Ranjit Singh.

Presently the hotel is owned by Sardar Hardev Singh Akoi and Sardar Jasdev Singh Akoi, grandsons of the Late Sardar Bahadur Ranjit Singh and managed by the firm M/s Akoi Saab.

The 24 king palms that lead up to the porch are an integral part of and witness to the very creation of New Delhi. The Hotel was designed to be one of the finest monuments of Lutyens’ grand vision of the Capital City’s original master plan - a unique blend of Victorian, Old colonial and Art Deco styles. The hotel was named and conferred the exquisite Lion Insignia by Lady Willingdon.

As New Delhi's landmark Hotel, The Imperial is centrally located on Janpath, the erstwhile Queensway. It is steps away from the renowned shopping district and major city attractions and 30 minutes away from the airport from the international airport and i kn from the central business district of New Delhi.

Two hundred and sixty three spacious singles, doubles and suites, the rooms at The Imperial retain the regal flourishes of a wondrous past. With it’s high ceilings, impeccable décor, combined with modern comforts, The Imperial is a delight of the fastidious connoisseur.

DANIELL'S TAVERN
The Daniell's Tavern is the most elegant restaurant in town and houses the famous works of Thomas & William Daniells, the uncle and nephew duo, who travelled extensively in India during 1786-1793 and painted its unrivalled scenery. In the process they also discovered the cuisine of India. The restaurant offers Colonial Indian and Continental cuisine complete with a live band and a Bar.
This was Pandit Nehru's favourite place to meet with his friends. Over tea and snacks, they would discuss at length lofty ideals and more practical matters.
Now renovated this quiet white - trellised verandah is 'The Garden Party' restaurant. A secluded spot for quick meals and delicious snacks round the clock, it overlooks acres of lush green garden of the hotel.

PATIALA PEG
